Bellandur flooding / monsoon delivery contingency planning?
Real Bengaluru-specific risk that out-of-city developers miss. Bellandur, Whitefield and parts of Outer Ring Road flood every monsoon (typically Aug-Sep, severely in 2017 / 2022 / 2023), and Bengaluru’s legacy stormwater infrastructure means even 4-hour-rain events stop Swiggy / Dunzo / 3PL deliveries cold in the IT corridor. What we plan for on Magento: (1) Multi-warehouse routing, if your fulfillment is Bellandur-only, we wire a Whitefield or Mahadevapura backup warehouse into Magento’s source-priority engine so orders auto-reroute when the primary fulfillment center can’t ship; (2) 3PL backup rail, primary on Delhivery, fallback to Bluedart or Ecom Express, set in the shipping-method config so when the primary’s Bengaluru hub is flooded, the rate-card auto-switches; (3) Customer-facing monsoon banners, CMS block + cookie-based dismissal, scheduled to auto-publish on IMD red-alert days; (4) AWS Mumbai region as primary (ap-south-1) with us-east-1 cold-failover, ECS Mumbai goes down rarely but the precedent matters. Most Bengaluru agencies skip this; we don’t.
